City-builder games all but disappeared in recent years. Cities: Skylines brought the genre back into the limelight, showing off its full potential once more. Both intricate and huge, Cities: Skylines' scale and freedom allow players to unleash their creativity in building an expansive and gorgeous city. Getting a grasp on the basics is easy but building the most efficient city possible requires a great deal of thought and strategy. Moreover, regular patches, new developer content and a near endless amount of creative mods continue to breathe life into the game.
Cities: Skylines is an impressive city-builder that nudges even novice players to go out and create wondrous and fantastic cities. In fact, the game is so much fun that we suspect it will inspire a revival of the genre. A worthy Strategy Game of the Year.
