Taking inspiration from some of the best action games of the last few years, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor ended up not only being one of the best licenced games of recent memory, but one of the best action games period. Mordor makes for a sprawling, dynamic setting, and the combination of awesome combat skills and paranormal wraith powers make slicing through hordes of Uruk a blast. The real star of the show, however, is the Nemesis system. With an entire hierarchy of enemy leaders that changes in response to who you kill, as well as individuals that grow from their victories over you, Shadow of Mordor does a fantastic job of making the player feel influential in the game's world. Whether you are an action junkie looking for tight gameplay or a Tolkien fanatic looking to spend time in Middle Earth, Shadow of Mordor has something for just about everyone.
