The Rewards System

Everyone likes to get rewarded for things they do in games. Xbox Live achievements are proof that people will do almost anything to have those little points next to their gamer card increase. For Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Ubisoft has created an entire new reward system with one thing in mind; every action, every objective and every victory will earn you a reward. There are three types of rewards in Vegas 2: Experience Points, Ranks and ACES.

Experience Points are achieved by performing different actions. These actions range from killing terrorists to reaching a check point. As you gain experience you will be able to see your progression in real time on the whole new exp bar on the Heads Up Display. Once you fill up a certain amount of experience points and your bar you attain a new rank.

Rank, much like the last game, is how you are able to unlock new equipment. With each rank you obtain you receive a new set of gear that visually enhances your character. Leader boards online will hold top ranked players and you will be able to compare scores with friends and foes online.

ACES stand for Advanced Combat Enhancement and Specialization. The goal of this system is to reward the player every time they perform tactical actions. These tactical actions are based on three categories: Close Quarters Battle (CQB), Assault and Marksmanship. In CQB you get points for performing actions such as close range kills and using your non-lethal grenades to gain the upper hand on the enemy. In Assault any action such as getting multiple kills or single kills by C4 or frag grenades will get you points. Marksmanship points are scored by performing long range kills and headshots. The more you build up ACES in each category, the more related weapons you unlock.

For the first time you’re going to be able to level up your character and obtain new gear by playing single player, multiplayer, online and offline including Co-op. This time around practically everything you do has a reward tied to it.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has a lot to offer. A completion of the story, more game types, better multiplayer and a rewards system that gives Call of Duty 4 a run for its money. All this banking on a franchised that has cemented itself in FPS genre forever as a serious competitor. Be sure to check out Rainbow Six Vegas 2 this March when it hits store shelves.
