Mercenaries 2: World In Flames

In a war for supremacy, it is all about money.

Cooperative Multiplayer

Think you?re a better shot than your buddy? Bring him into the game at any point, no matter if your just exploring or half an hour into a bloody long mission, and see which one of you can get to the objective first. Or, let him do all the hard work while you get the monetary reward for all his labors. And don?t worry, it won?t put a strain on your relationship; he can turn around and kill you just as easily as you can put some lead in his brain.

Road trip? Ditch that, let?s take the boat!

When I said they got rid of the bad things from Merc 1, I wasn?t lying. Water is no longer a deadly hazard, as you can now swim. Of course, with the large assortment of watercraft available for both purchase and... other means of acquiring... swimming through water will be the last thing on your mind. There are sure to be several aqua-based missions, so you?ll have plenty of time to acquaint yourself with the controls.

Yet another travel addition to M2:WIF is the ability to warp instantaneously to several points across the in-game world. By gaining control of various landing zones throughout the map, you can get to where you need to be when you need to be there, without all the hassle of maneuvering through a busy city. One that you?ve probably blown halfway to kingdom come, but that?s besides the point.

Then again, with full access to every vehicle in the game, do you really want to waste all the precious driving time by teleporting to locations that might actually make it harder to get to your destination?

Who am I? Who the **** are you?

While all that?s come before has the appearance of being one the most enjoyable shooters to be released since the first Mercenaries game, it?s all worthless without a character to play as. Though the official M2:WIF website shows three different characters, only one has any revealed data: Mattias Nilsson.

Sporting a killer Mohawk, a braided goatee, and one awesome jacket of tattoos, this guy literally breathes cool. Add in the ability to speak not only his native Swedish but also English and Russian, and you know this guy can deal with whatever comes his way. And did I mention that he used to be in the army, and after that part of a biker gang?

*Insert maniacal laughter here*

Mattias knows destruction, and he loves it just as much as we do. The other two mercs will remain unknown for the time being, but as soon as the game is released and gamers meet these other characters, their bios will be posted on the M2:WIF official website.

Mercenaries 2: World In Flames has the potential to be the most engaging thing to hit consoles since... well, since the first Mercenaries from a few years back. And when the improvement put into a game actually improve instead of destroy, you know your money is going into something you?ll be using again and again and again... even after your parents or spouse yell at you for making all that noise.
