Feeding on fear
'Survival Horror'. How many times has this term been used to describe a cookie cutter genre that revolves around nothing more then puzzle solving, scavenger hunts, and the ever persistent mindless minion of undeath, the Zombie. What if, just once, the tables had been turned? What if just once, instead of running scared, fear feeding your instinct desperate to survive, you feed off the fear of others, growing more powerful with rage, power, and the desire to destroy all that stand in your way. What if just once, -you- were the Zombie. Back in the real world Possession lets you play the role of Creator and Commander to an undead horde that will envelope a city!
Possession is an action horror game that finally gives the bad guy a chance to shine. The player takes control of the main character known as 'The Enslaver'. The Enslaver has the supernatural powers to call forth the undead and fight by his side. Of course, in the beginning, the mighty zombie army which you summon forth will be just a handful, however, as with any good zombie movie, infection spreads as quickly as the screams of the panicked and dying.
Cause and effect, the gruesome way
The game initially will be mission based, with a free flowing progression. What you accomplish in a given mission, will affect something in the games' future. As an example, if you manage to overrun and destroy a police station, police response time to your advancement through the city will be reduced, perhaps even affecting the calling of more powerful resistance such as SWAT or military units. When you decide to take out a power station, well, imagine the chaos that may provoke. It will be critical to take out important targets during your advancement thought the three areas of the city.
All is not well in Zombie Ville however, many of the local authorities will be out in force to stop your evil advance. Everyone from the police, SWAT, and even the National Guard and US Army will come out to play as your influence spreads over the city. If your horde truly becomes massive, special 'Black Ops' soldiers will be deployed to try and neutralize The Enslaver.
To the meat grinder
The action is a fast paced tactical environment that will require both thought-out plans and cunning split decision to succeed in a given objective. As your horde grows in size and power, different variants of zombies will become available. The five types of zombie mutations will vary from the classic 'Shambler' zombie, slow moving and near mindless to the 'Dawn of the Dead Runners' who with eerie agility and determination chase down panicked victims. You may even wield the power to fuse dead flesh and bone into the zombie behemoth known only as The Monster.
