Empire Earth is set to evolve this fall. What's in store? A look.

Go Big or Go Home

The Empire Earth games have never been ones to do things small. The ideas behind these games are epic in scope? Build a civilization from its earliest beginnings and take it all the way into the distant future while trying to include all of earth?s history. I?d go as far as to say that is a bold undertaking. But taking on a project of such magnitude is nothing if you don?t deliver a strong end result, and thus far the Empire Earth series has earned itself a nice and dedicated fan base. It?s therefore not surprising to note that quite a few people are watching out for the impending release date of the newest game in the series, Empire Earth III.

The Empire Strikes Back

Similar to the other games of the series this game will span the entire history of human existence and beyond. It will also include a series standard of 3 regional factions ? Western, Middle Eastern and Far Eastern for the player to choose from. What has changed slightly is the appearance of the game. With a brighter and exaggerated art style it looks more like a realistic cartoon now.

According to the developers (Mad Doc Software), Empire Earth III will feature a new world domination mode in which the real time battles and turn based campaign will be linked together in a bid for taking control of the world? granted the world is given the option to stop you from taking it over if it pays a sum of? ?1 MILLION DOLLARS? *places pinky finger to mouth*. Austin Powers jokes aside, the new world domination seems to be a very exciting new addition to the series with various options on how the world can be won.

The World is Not Enough

The new world domination mode features a large 3D globe that allows you to track your faction?s progress. The game is said to vary, but in general you will have to own between 40-60 territories before the world is finally yours. Sierra Entertainment and Mad Doc Software have noted that you can play either on the standard earth globe or have the game create a randomly generated planet for you, making the various terrains virtually limitless.

Fans of the earlier games have often complained about the games being too complex and confusing with regards to features such as diplomacy and management of resources. There will now only be 2 basic resources to manage and the diplomacy has been simplified to the degree of having statements down to ?Declare War? and ?Form Alliance?. These changes should have the confused fans getting by with the game nicely? and if they are still confused, they should probably avoid political science courses in school.
