Another additional feature that was revealed is the addition of optional quests during the battle sequences. Similar to a game such as Warcraft III?s optional quests, players can now choose if they want to help a certain tribe out with their problem, ignore them, or destroy them. All in all Empire Earth III seems to have a lot more depth but not get the player bogged down with managing too much of their resources and political wit.
The World?s Not Big Enough for the Two of us
Empire Earth III will allow for the standard multiplayer skirmishes that have already been introduced in the series and that will make a lot of fans happy. What will intrigue them further however, is the new global domination multiplayer function.
Obviously this will require patience by both participating players but it is still quite interesting. Basically one of the players holds up the server for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. While the other player can log on anytime, check to see what moves his opponent has made, make his or her own moves, then log off. Thus the global domination games will develop over time but will keep hard-core players involved in epic struggles to control the earth.
3rd Time?s the Charm
There is a lot to be excited about with Empire Earth III. If history is any indicator, games in this genre tend to get better as they progress. Look at the third game in the Total War Series (ROME) and compare it to the good but not great Shogun: Total War, the difference between Warcraft and Warcraft III and the improvement of the third installation of the Command & Conquer series was.
If you have played the original or second Empire Earth game and enjoyed them then it looks like Empire Earth III will be worth your time. If you are new to this series but interested, I would say that Empire Earth III seems like a great place to start your global dominating relationship, because as we all know? third time?s the charm. This game is due out sometime in the fall. Also remember that Empire Earth is just a game, and war in real life is not cool?always increase the peace.
