And we thought Atlantis was lost...

Deceptive (cntd.)

The engine looks capable and is able to produce objects and units with a good amount of graphical detail. The character modeling looks top-notch, even when you zoom in all the way. The game impressed me with its great particle effects, fire and smoke in particular. Cannons firing and the resulting explosions feel realistic and are well animated. One of the most intriguing aspects of the engine is its ability to 'morph' landscapes. Your actions, along with those of the enemy, will slowy change the battlefield. This means new defensive and offensive opportunities will pop up all the time and very few objects will be safe to hide behind forever.

War!

It is a bloody war out there. Enemies come in all shapes and sizes and in large hordes too... In the midst of battle there is heavy gunning around you, people running with mines and nuclear missiles making way to the enemy base. Your troops of soldiers fight them with courage until death. The result? More red paint for your base... Yay!

The preview we saw showed the game engine capable of rendering a large number of enemies with your units equally numbered and charging against the enormous monsters in rage, accompanied with (un)friendly neighborhood Elemental forces! This resulted in a pretty messy and over-crowded war ground, where we might find it a little difficult to control and order the units in the heat of the battle. This sort of chaos can either be a challenge or just too much to handle but we won't really know which way it will go until we play the final game.

Final Word...

The classic RTS gameplay style is preserved Battle for Atlantis. As usual, gamers will have to build a base, defend it, spawn allies and troops and use them to attack enemy bases in order to proceed. Most of what you see will be familiar fare and it is the unique setting that will make the difference. The system requirements to run the game have not yet been made official but we expect the game to require a above average gaming rig a to enjoy the visual effects as intended. I personally recommend this if you love to drool at naked chicks (no, this game does not feature naked chicks, I just said that to see if you were still paying enough attention). Ehm... where were we... Ah yes; If you love to drool at Sci-Fi machinery that exists primarily to tear apart your foes, this is one to watch.
