Microsoft Xbox 360![]() From admitting that there was a flaw in the Xbox 360 hardware design and tossing billions of dollars at the problem, to dropping the mega-ton media juggernaut that was Halo 3, Microsoft had a very interesting year 2007. At first glance, one might think that the 360 held up its end of the unfortunate stereotype that the system is only a home to shooters, with games like Bioshock, Halo 3, The Orange Box and Call of Duty 4, but, upon closer examination, the system really started to spread its wings this year. RPGs like Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata and Mass Effect, as well as action games like Assassin’s Creed and Crackdown really showed that there is more to Microsoft’s heat machine than just gunplay and three red lights. This year has really been one of the best years in gaming history and Microsoft really came through on their promise of a slew of great games for 2007. HookedGamers is proud to present our selections for the best on the 360. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare![]()
![]() ![]() Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare might have some of the best graphics we’ve ever seen. The music is amazing with wonderful voice acting. Gameplay is varied and balanced in both single player and multiplayer that (in many ways) challenges juggernaut Halo 3. But what really makes it great is the experience of the game, cinematically immersive in almost every way. From shooting enemies from a plane in black and white night vision to watching camouflaged snipers coming out of the grass seemingly from nowhere, all the while bringing the famed Call of Duty series away from the beaches of Normandy and into the 21st century. ![]() ![]() In a year that has seen dozens of sequels roll out onto store shelves and into the hands of gamers, new and interesting IPs have been in short supply. Assassin's Creed, however, stands out. With a unique and interesting control scheme, a living and breathing open world that is truly believable, and an overarching storyline that is really engrossing, what's not to love? Ubisoft really gave it their all with this one. Assassin's Creed stands out as one of the best of the year. Resources Halo 3![]()
![]() ![]() You don’t get to be the monumental financial success that the Halo series has become by treading the same ground over and over. Instead, Bungie pulled out all the stops in the conclusion to the Halo trilogy and delivered the game that fans were clamoring for. Halo 3 has more features than you can shake a stick at and everything has been integrated so masterfully into the gameplay that you can be sure that people will be playing this game for the duration of the 360s lifespan (or at least until a new Halo game comes out). Microsoft’s ace in the hole trumped all comers but one... Resources Mass Effect![]()
![]() ![]() Sometimes a special game comes along and, when you sit down to play it, you are so immersed in the game that when you finally look up you realize that it is 4AM and you have to be at work in four hours. Instead of putting the controller down you decide to continue your quest - work be damned! Offering a unique role-playing experience that rivals the best in the genre, an entire universe to explore, art direction that harkens back to 1980s sci-fi films and superb writing that will leave you immersed in the world of your Commander Shepard, Mass Effect is that game. All future action RPGs will be judged by the bar Bioware has set with Mass Effect. We are pleased to say it is the best on the Xbox 360. Resources |
