Nintendo Wii The Wii has had a great first year. The little console that could is now one year old, but already it can play with the big boys.   In a world where games ported to other consoles are usually far from perfect era, Resident Evil 4 has proven that quality ports are possible too. Resident Evil has always been a game that should be played in the middle of the night with all the lights out. Having to actually aim at your enemies has increased the fright factor several points which is no mean feat. Resources Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
  Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn is one of the best strategy-RPGs around and certainly one of the premier Wii titles. It may not boast motion-control, but come on, this is Fire Emblem we're talking about! Hardcore strategy, an engrossing plot, interesting characters, and tough-as-nails gameplay, Radiant Dawn is the perfect example of a hardcore game. Not only that, but it's the best in the series, one that has spanned eleven entries since 1987. The best in the series of which there is not one less-than-awesome game? Sign me up!   It is a bit of a shame to see a brilliant game like Zack and Wiki carry around a title that will probably deter even the most devoted point-and-click fans. While the storytelling may not be on par with, say, Grim Fandango or Sam and Max, the gameplay more than makes up for it. All the puzzles are brilliantly executed and hard enough to give you a huge sense of satisfaction when you complete them, and the Wii remote use is superb for a third-party game. Zack and Wiki is charming, captivating, intuitive, fun and only on Wii. Resources Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
  For a long time, Metroid Prime 3 reigned supreme at the top of this year's best games for the Wii but we're certain that even its creators didn't mind stepping aside for your #1. The game is a lighthouse in a sea of dull everyday shooters. Prime 3 makes brilliant use of the Wii's controller, offers awesome graphics, blasts a rockin' soundtrack, and delivers great gameplay coupled with an amazingly engrossing atmosphere. While it's still a common debate whether the game is the best in the franchise, there is no debate about how great it is. Resources Super Mario Galaxy
  Super Mario Galaxy is a no-brainer to put at the top and you probably were expecting a screenshot of the game greeting you as this page loaded. Galaxy is perhaps the finest game in the last decade, and it is certainly the best platformer. Everything about the game screams quality and Galaxy is constantly surprising the player with new situations and mind-bending puzzles. As years go by, Super Mario Galaxy will probably become a quality-benchmark of sorts. A standard that all games in the genre strive to meet. Resources |
