Kitten Space Agency Launches to Redefine Spaceflight Gaming

Kitten Space Agency (KSA), developed by RocketWerkz (creators of ICARUS and Stationeers, which together have more than two million players), has released its pre-alpha build and opened the mission to the public. Players and space enthusiasts can now download an early version of the spaceflight simulator for free from ahwoo.com and take part in shaping its development.

Led by DayZ and Icarus creator Dean Hall with support from Kerbal Space Program creator Felipe Falanghe, Kitten Space Agency brings together veteran developers, space professionals, and community modders to build a new kind of spaceflight experience. After a year in development, the team has made its early pre-alpha build available for anyone to explore. While the build is free to download, developer RocketWerkz is inviting the community to support future development through direct contributions instead of traditional sales.

"Kerbal Space Program inspired a generation of players to think differently about space," said Dean Hall, CEO of RocketWerkz. "With Kitten Space Agency, we want to carry that spirit forward. To build something bold and community driven, shaped directly by the people who play it. This is not just a game we're announcing; it’s a mission we're inviting everyone to join."

A Living, Open Mission
More than 35,000 players and aerospace professionals have already joined the Kitten Space Agency Discord community, where changelogs, developer notes, and discussions are shared openly. Feedback from contributors and players directly informs development priorities, reinforcing the project's commitment to radical transparency and collaboration.

"Contributions fund continued work, future features, and the infrastructure needed to keep development open," Hall said. "But people aren't just supporting this project financially. They're testing, refining, and improving it. It's a shared mission in every sense."

Built by Experts and the Community
The Kitten Space Agency team includes Felipe Falanghe, creator of the original Kerbal Space Program, and Stefan Moluf, former SpaceX flight controller. They're joined by well-known members of the Kerbal Space Program modding community, including JPLRepo (7 mods including AmpYear & TAC Life Support) Blackrack (Volumetric Clouds and Scatterer mods), Linx (Parallax mod), and Daishi (Universal Storage mod) whose creations have more than five million downloads combined.

Built with BRUTAL, an in-house development framework, it gives the development team complete agency over fixing the bugs and problems that are encountered. Kitten Space Agency emphasizes accurate physics, engineering depth, beautiful spacescapes, and open modding. The current pre-alpha lets players plan maneuvers and explore Earth, the Moon and a test solar system seamlessly without loading screens.

The game is being delivered through Ahwoo, a platform that allows players to download the latest version of the game for free and contribute directly to its ongoing development, something not possible through traditional storefronts.
