Feature

The gaming headset market is saturated at every price point, but the 4Gamers C6-100 Strike sets out to capture the attention of budget-focused gamers. Available in a range of colours, we took the stylish Rose Gold version for a spin to see if it delivers essential performance without breaking the bank. The C6-100 presents itself as a simple, wired solution, but its performance and comfort reveal some important trade-offs inherent in its affordable design.

Design and Comfort

Upon first impression, the C6-100's build quality immediately reflects its budget positioning. The frame is primarily plastic, lending it a cheap feeling, though the material is quite flexible, which may aid in durability against bending. The choice of plastic does, however, result in a remarkably lightweight headset, a major positive for portability. This is further enhanced by the swivel ear cups, allowing the headset to lie flat for easy storage.

The C6-100 features a small padded headrest, an adjustable headband, and soft-foam, leatherette ear cushions. Despite the adjustable nature and lightweight frame, comfort is where we ran into some issues. The headset has a tight feel when worn, and the smaller ear cups felt particularly restricting. I found it began to feel uncomfortable after only about half an hour of use. It’s plausible that this design choice is aimed squarely at those with smaller head sizes.

However, the snug fit and smaller earcups did provide a couple of advantages. Headsets with larger, looser earcups often have a tendency to slip, but the C6-100 remained perfectly stable, with no movement even when I turned my head quickly. The tightness also provided a noticeable level of passive noise cancellation, effectively isolating sound thanks to the secure fit.

Connectivity and Controls

The C6-100 is a purely wired solution, connecting via a standard 3.5mm audio jack. The cable itself is a robust braided design, which helps prevent tangling and adds a small layer of perceived durability.
For ease of use, the headset incorporates inline controls located on the braided cable. This unit is simple and effective, providing quick access to essential functions: a volume slider for on-the-fly audio adjustment and a convenient microphone on/off switch for instant muting. The microphone itself is flexible, allowing for easy positioning.

Audio Performance

Equipped with 40mm speaker drivers, the C6-100 delivers a mixed audio experience. On the positive side, the surround sound works quite well, proving highly beneficial in competitive gaming. This spatial audio capability allows players to effectively pinpoint the area enemies are attacking from, providing a crucial competitive edge.

Unfortunately, the overall sound profile is let down by the disappointing bass. When expecting a deep, booming tune or an impactful explosion, the output tends to sound tinny. Listening to bass-heavy music like Massive Attack's "Angel" and The Prodigy's "Diesel Power" felt underpowered as a result, lacking the depth required for truly immersive sound.

In contrast, the microphone works superbly. It picks up voices loud and clear, making it a fantastic tool for communication. It is almost perfect for video calls and chatting with your squad in-game. The main drawback is a minor one: it is sensitive enough to pick up background noises such as the clack of a mechanical keyboard, so conscious effort might be needed in loud environments.

Verdict

The 4Gamers C6-100 Strike Gaming Headset successfully enters the budget market with a highly competent microphone and effective directional surround sound, which are arguably the two most critical features for team-based gaming. The headset is commendably lightweight and portable, supported by a durable braided cable.
However, users must be willing to accept significant trade-offs in comfort and sound fidelity. The tight fit and small earcups are prone to becoming uncomfortable during extended use, and the disappointing bass response means music enthusiasts or those seeking cinematic audio depth will likely be left wanting more.
Ultimately, the C6-100 is a headset designed for the budget-conscious gamer with a smaller head who prioritizes reliable, clear communication and tactical audio positioning over luxurious comfort and rich bass.
