Square Enix announces two new titles at Nintendo Direct
During the latest Nintendo Direct, SQUARE ENIX unveiled two new games in development at its internal studio, Team Asano: OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0, an HD-2D turn-based RPG featuring a standalone story set before the critically-acclaimed OCTOPATH TRAVELER, and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, a brand-new single-player action RPG featuring a bold narrative, deep exploration, robust customization, and intense real-time combat.
Both games will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. Additionally, OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0 will have Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 versions. Pre-orders for OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0 are rolling out today.
About OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0
In OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0, players will experience a story of restoration and retribution over the divine rings in an epic saga that unfolds across the realm of Orsterra. The game features returning core elements from the series, and–for the first time in series history–players will be able to customize their own protagonist and rebuild their hometown after it has been destroyed. The story builds upon that of the mobile game OCTOPATH TRAVELER: Champions of the Continent, adding new story content where players rebuild their town, and reinterpreted story beats unfold throughout. Fans familiar with the series can enjoy the return of its iconic HD-2D art style, the ability to interact with other characters in various ways through Path Actions, and the Break and Boost battle system which can turn the tide of battle.
Those that pre-order the game will receive Travel Provisions, an in-game Support Pack featuring five Healing Grape (M), five Inspiriting Plum (M) and two Revitalizing Jams, as well as the Icewind Mastery Action Skill to use in battle that gives you advantages to start your adventure.
SQUARE ENIX announced a Save Data Bonus Campaign for OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0, which allows players who have save data or play data for relevant demos from OCTOPATH TRAVELER, OCTOPATH TRAVELER II, BRAVELY DEFAULT FLYING FAIRY HD Remaster, DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake or DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake on their system (or purchase history of these titles on accounts for some systems) to redeem bonus items in OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0.
OCTOPATH TRAVELER 0 will be available on December 4, 2025.
About The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millenium Tales introduces a fantastical adventure set in the world of Philabieldia—a savage land overrun by fierce beasts. When a mysterious set of ruins is discovered just beyond the protective walls of the Kingdom of Huther, humanity's sole bastion, a young adventurer named Elliot and his fairy companion, Faie, embark on a perilous journey—one that will unfold across the fabric of space and time.
The duo Elliot and Faie will traverse a vast world teeming with enemy hordes, hidden caves and ancient ruins. Elliot can wield seven weapon types—ranging from close-quarters swords to versatile chains and sickles that can reel in enemies. Each weapon is customizable through magicite, allowing players to tailor their combat style. Faie’s powerful Fairy Actions are formidable in and out of battle, whether she's striking enemies, retrieving hard-to-reach items, or aiding in exploration.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales will be available in 2026.
Square Enix also announced that a free "debut demo" for The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is available today on Nintendo Switch 2. Players can experience the demo and provide feedback through an online survey, which is open until Sept. 30, 2025.
