Unique (cntd.)
Very imaginative units like Mobile Camps that are situated on the backs of large Brachiosaurus' allows the Dustriders to carry around supplies and even produce new infantry units. One of the units that especially appealed to me was the Norsemen Kentrosaurus. The animal itself doesn't fight so well but it's got these big spikes all over its body that make it particularly hard to get close to. On top of its back, archers can be given a safe place to fire their arrows from. Another imposing opponent is the Gatling Rider that is used by the last of the three Paraworld tribes. This unit consists of a fast and agile dinosaur with a human rider operating a mean looking Gatling gun. It needs its speed badly because it cannot take much of a punch itself but a skilled commander that can keep these beasties out of close combat, can wreak havoc among just about any non-ranged foe.
It's a looker
As if that doesn't offer enough variety already, the developers have also thrown five different climatic zones into the mix. Ranging from the searing hot Ashvalley region to the frozen Icewaste area, Paraworld's climates are similar to our own.
The graphics may not look as detailed as some of the other strategy games that have been or will be released this year but the graphical style surpasses all of them in my book. Crisp, clear and detailed graphics only get you so far - if a game doesn?t have any ambiance, you won?t feel comfortable playing it. Paraworld is brimming with ambiance and the developers went all out creating a game that looks and feels refreshingly different from other strategy games.
Competition!
Everything about the game shows the time and dedication that the developers have put into the game. Publisher SunFlowers recognizes this and is showing some of its own dedication to the game. They recently announced that they would provide 100.000 euro?s (+/- $125.000) in prize money for future eSport events that will use Paraworld in their competition lineup.
This shows great faith in the title and from what we?ve seen so far, that faith looks to be justified. So, if you?re looking for something different and love strategy games, keep this one on your radar. It should be on the shelves somewhere by the end of September.
