Mercenaries and revenge...dangerous!

So long Solano…

The plot of the game of course revolves around a mini army of Mercenaries which you are in charge of. You basically pick which faction you want to do a job for and head out into the world to get the job done for big bucks. But earning the big bucks isn’t even the half of it. Pandemic wanted to give players more motivation to get onto the battlefield for more than just money. In Mercenaries 2 there is an underlying story of revenge behind it.
As the plot goes, a man driven mad by his greed for power, Ramon Solano, has begun causing trouble with Venezuela’s oil supply. This causes an invasion that ends up creating a large war torn region with you in the middle of it. It turns out that this mad man Solano had previously hired you for a job but then turned on you and filled you full of lead and thus, one of the goals of the game is some serious payback.

There are several factions that you can fight for including the Allied Nations, the Chinese, Rastafarian pirates, Universal Petroleum and the PLAV (People’s Liberation Army of Venezuela). Also intriguing is the fact that the more you fight with one faction the more your view on the other factions will fluctuate.

Waiting for the World to Burn

The overall map of the terrain you will be fighting on is rumoured to be 8x8 kilometres in size with no load times. This is a huge area to fight on and with a completely destructive environment; you can use your surroundings to your advantage. You can destroy a bridge to block the access of enemies behind you or steal cars, tanks, and helicopters to do more damage or get from one point or another.

Also, 8x8 kilometres may seem like a large space to cover but the game will allow you to take over transit areas so that you can quickly warp across the map.

If you have a friend who wants to join in the destructive fun, he or she can jump in at any time. Even if you are in the middle of the level, a partner can pick up the controller and go. Teamwork in this game can be extremely amusing and fulfilling when you work together to bring a building down or blow up a huge section of the map.

The game gives a lot of variety in its weapons as well; you can buy weapons from your earnings or just head out to the battlefield and try to find them in the heat of battle. Weapons range from hand guns to mini atom bombs, craziness will ensue. As I said above, if you are looking for a game to release some anger and have some great times while you play it, check out Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. It looks like it won’t disappoint.
