Pandora's Box has been opened...

You need to look deeper (cntd.)

All types of enemies play a big part in your survival. Enemy soldiers drop the vital ammo you need to combat your foes and the mythical beasts drop health, in the form of ‘Animus’. This adds another element of tactical thinking to the game. Animus can also be stored up, as an emergency reserve of health, should you ever need it. However, that is not the only purpose of Animus. You can use Animus to create a pulse attack, which helps push back creatures and soldiers away from you, giving you room to breathe and think.

Know your surroundings...

Cover is very important in this game. Being fired upon by enemy soldiers isn’t much of a problem because you can stay in cover. However, when something bigger comes for you and starts chasing you, you have to get on the move, which adds a degree of strategy to the gameplay. Knowing your surroundings at all times is a key element that will help you survive. It’s this that really makes you stay on your toes and which helps keep the action going at a mile a minute.

...as well as your enemies

There are a variety of different weapons in the game, with the standard arsenal of machine guns, submachineguns, shotguns, rocket launchers, grenades etc. However, there is tactics to be thought out with these weapons. Each weapon type is best suited against certain types of enemy. Assault rifles for long range killing on soldiers, shotguns against werewolves charging at you and so on, which adds a nice little tactical thinking-on-your-feet feel to the game, and not only just which gun to use against what enemy, but which enemy to take out first.

Will it be enough?

Multiplayer has been confirmed from the developers of Legendary. However, not much is yet known about what we can look forward to seeing in it. There will be co-op action, yet it is unknown if it will be local, split-screen local, online, or whether there will be any form of multiplayer vs. mayhem.

Legendary uses the Unreal 3 engine, and so far it is looking like a considerable improvement to the current gen standards, as impressive as they are these days. Although I’m not completely overwhelmed by the graphics, they are still fairly impressive, and have come a long way from the early stages of production.

All in all, Legendary may at first appear to be just another FPS game to place on the ever growing stack of titles. However, there are a few new things it brings to the party that may just be enough to entice you enough to give it a look. For me, personally, although it looks like it could be a solid game, I’m still unsure about it. With so many titles coming out this year alone, it’s going to have a fair bit of competition to get noticed by the mass audience.
