Hard to be a God

Mounts (cntd.)
A slightly higher amount of clothes and armor available and players can purchase a horse too. They are useful for travel but can also be used for battle on horseback. Horses come in many variations, differing in speed, armor and color. To keep the hero in check, enemies will also be able to use mounts.
Adversaries
Speaking of enemies, there are 2 types. Human NPCs could be aggressive by nature (bandits for example) or just aggressive because of something you did to them like step on their daisies (seriously, watch where you step). They have all the moves you do, including the special moves and the ability to fight on mounts.
Monsters on the other hand, are fairly simple and are only able to dodge, block, or attack. As you can tell by some of the screenshots that are accompanying this article, the monsters in the game look very interesting. The warthog and lizard type monsters especially caught my attention.
The graphics in the game are pretty well done though they will not impress as much as some of today’s games. Hard to be a God features original creatures from the book along with some new ones that have been created especially for the game. Weather and alternation of day and night play an important part in the game. Noot only do they affect the graphics and lighting but also the behavior of other characters in the game. For example; Asking an NPC with a dislike for water to follow you may well result in his refusal. If you would then come back at night when the rain has stopped, he might not even be around. All you can do then is wait around until daybreak, hoping for his return and the weather to be more agreeable to him.
Godly
Overall, Hard to be a God looks quite promising. With a blend of medieval and high-tech weapons, a unique mix of hack-and-slash and role playing and a deep and interesting storyline, this game should be on the wish list of any fan of the Action RPG genre.
