Oculus Rift Pre-orders Begin Tomorrow
Pre-orders for the consumer version of the Oculus Rift will begin tomorrow Jan 6th at 8AM Pacific Time (16:00 GMT). In an announcement on Oculus.com, the Facebook owned VR company revealed that the long wait for consumer VR is almost over.
With 2016 set to be a hugely significant year for virtual reality, Oculus aren't hanging about, having also recently announced games that will be bundled with the headset. Both Eve: Valkyrie and Lucky's Tale will be included in the box for free, along with an Xbox One controller. They did also reveal that the Touch controllers, Oculus' answer to VR input, won't be available until Q2 2016, but the imminent arrival of the Rift should go some way to appeasing those who have been waiting with bated breath.
There is still no confirmation of how much the Oculus Rift is going to cost, or when it might ship, but according to Oculus, all will be revealed alongside the launch of pre-orders. All we have to go on as far as price is concerned is mostly wild speculation, but we can expect the first consumer version to be more expensive than the DK2, which was being sold for $350.
With the Playstation VR headset and HTC Vive still to come this year, along with a plethora of other VR focused devices, this year is already shaping up to be a huge one for gamers.
