Playstation Vita to Use Proprietary Memory Cards?


In an unusual move it appears that Sony is looking to utilize proprietary external memory cards for its latest handheld.

In a recent Neogaf post the following picture was discovered from E3:

The image in question shows the type of external memory Sony looks to use in the PS Vita. The cards initially look like SD cards but are in fact not. This might be a move to control read/write speeds which can vary depending on the make of memory card but I have to ask: really Sony? What is this, 2001? At least with the PSP you had versatile Memory Sticks but I don't see this format being used for anything other than the Vita.
