CD Projekt's 'Cyberpunk 2077' officially revealed
CD Projekt RED have officially unveiled their next title as Cyberpunk 2077 during the developer's conference today.
The game will be an open-world sandbox RPG that takes place in a city called "Night City".
“The Team has to love the material. The Team has to want to be faithful to the material. The Team has to have the skills to execute the material and see that vision through to the end. They have to be on fire with the desire to make an extraordinary game, and that leads, at last, to why we hooked up with CD Projekt RED," said Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith.Pondsmith also said that Cyberpunk 2077 “will be true to the essence of the cyberpunk genre". Pondsmith also stated that the game revolves around technology that has become the "salvation and curse of humanity".
The game will have a nonlinear story where players will visit locations represented in Cyberpunk 2020. No release date was given for the game during the conference.
CD Projekt RED also announced during the conference that The Witcher 2 has been released for Mac on Steam and GoG. You'll get it for 25% for the next 48 hours. It was announced that The Witcher 2 has sold over 2 million copies since being released last year and earlier this year for the PC and Xbox 360. Mac users can also get the original Witcher title for $4.99, but only for the next 48 hours.
The developer also took the opportunity to announce the REDkit modding toolset to use in The Witcher 2. The toolset will use the REDengine and is currently going through a beta phase. The REDkit will allow users to create a "living world" with advanced landscape design. You'll also be able to create mods for use in the game itself as well as create nonlinear adventures.
The REDkit toolset will be a free download to all who already own The Witcher 2 and will be released during the first half of 2013.
