Call Of Duty: Elite PC Launch Delayed
Activision have announced that the upcoming PC launch for their Call of Duty: Elite stats service has been delayed a bit.
Beachhead Studio head Chacko Sonny stated as much in a Q&A session posted community manager Dan Amirch’s blog.
“We’re as committed as ever to the PC, but the need to ensure a safe PC environment is greater than ever. It’s really extensive."
“We need more time to get there, so Elite on PC will not launch on Day One.”
Sonny stated that they want Elite to be everything they thought it would be (elite?), so until it's at that point they are not going to launch until it is. “We need more time to get there, so Elite on PC will not launch on Day One.”
“The issue here is that the PC is an insecure platform. Without a central, trusted resource for stats, a lot of our competition features become unfair. We can’t give away prizes when people can easily cheat their stats. Leaderboards are less fun when a lot of the users are there unfairly,” he explained.
The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the subscription services will launch with Modern Warfare 3 on Tuesday. Via GameSpy
