Stormforge has announced an upcoming public playtest

Roboto Games, the studio behind the highly anticipated fantasy open-world survival crafting game, Stormforge, has announced an upcoming public playtest, providing players their first opportunity to experience the storm-ravaged world. To celebrate the announcement, the team has also unveiled its first official gameplay footage since the game's reveal in early 2024.

Stormforge is a cooperative survival experience that supports up to 8 players, and is set in a world overrun by magical storms. Each storm presents unique dangers such as: tornadoes that fling rocks, trees, and enemies into the air; dust storms that reduce visibility and damage the player. Each storm has unique mechanics that change how the game is played. They are brimming with powerful resources, but filled with deadly creatures. Players must venture into them to gather essential materials to forge powerful weapons, craft armor, and build structures capable of withstanding the forces of the storms. Harvesting these resources won't come easily - players will have to face off against powerful enemies that grow stronger in their path. If players linger too long without finding shelter, the storm's power will eventually consume them.

"Stormforge is about risk and reward in magical storms modeled after real world tornadoes, sandstorms and blizzards" said Curt Bererton, CEO and co-founder at Roboto Games. "Its storms are brutal, but they hold the power players need to survive this world. This playtest is our first chance to see how players brave the storms, build their world, and shape their own stories."

From lush meadows and windswept forests to forgotten ruins and secret dungeons, Stormforge offers endless opportunities for exploration thanks to its procedural generation and the ability to travel by boat or glider. Every island is unique and filled with secrets, treasures, and powerful world bosses. Defeating each boss unlocks new character classes and abilities allowing for a wide variety of strategies. The game also features seamless modding support, making it easy for the community to introduce custom gear, enemies, locations, and game rules.

The upcoming playtest will include early access to core systems such as exploration, storms featuring magical tornadoes, challenging combat as well as base building. Players interested in joining the Stormforge Playtest can sign up here.

Stormforge can be wishlisted on Steam and is set for an Early Access launch in 2026.
