Serious Sam: The Random Encounter is seriously an RPG

Serious Sam just got a whole lot more serious guys... The third instalment in the Serious Sam Indie Series is going to be an RPG which some of your might have speculated by the title Serious Sam: The Random Encounter and it's tongue in cheek reference to many a RPG.

Developed by Vlambeer, the guys behind Dinosaur Zookeeper and Super Crate Box, the game will include all you'd expect in a classic 16 bit RPG with a Serious Sam twist. Expect a Final Fantasy-style RPG rife with dudes pumped up with more steroids than the average football player, a wealth of equally massive guns and not to mention the ridiculously ginormous robotic alien thingys you'll have to fight. Throw in the cutesy 16 bit pixel art and some random RPG mechanics, mix it all together into a manly soup and you'll have Serious Sam: The Random Encounter.

Still no word on a release date, or much at all past a few screenshots that have surfaced but rest assured, it looks to capture the hilarity of Serious Sam with the added bonus of bringing back the nostalgia of 16 bit RPGs. What could possibly go wrong?
