Re-Construction

All About Re-Construction.

Recently I have been playing a lot of Construction Sim 24 and another heavy vehicle sim Farm Simulator 25. Both of these games have the emphasis of using heavy equipment vehicles in order to accomplish certain simulated tasks such as constructing buildings and farming. When I saw that RoadCraft was nearing its final release, I was eager to give it a look because it seemed to be very much like my favorite gaming genre. Luckily a demo version of the game had just been released and I was all set to give it a go. The following is my preview look at this new sim by developer Saber Interactive along with publisher Focus Entertainment.

Saber Interactive is well known for their recent and very popular four wheel drive vehicle racing sim Mud Runner. Even though the new RoadCraft game shares the same vehicle driving mechanics as Mud Runner the theme of the new game is very different in nature. The only racing in RoadCraft will be the race to get your companies heavy vehicles in to a devastated area anywhere in the world to rebuild and get the destroyed facilities back up and running. Even though the driving is the same in RoadCraft as it is in Mud Runner the new game purportedly comes with a totally new game engine and it really shows because the graphics are stunning!

So Many Areas Need To Recover From Disasters!

The final version of RoadCraft is scheduled to emphasize eight different areas or zones through out the world. Only two were covered in the preview code. The world in this sim really is a disaster and as an emergency property restoration company it is your job to go in and remedy the situation. Since most if not all of the devastation in the world today that your company will be working on, is caused by severe weather conditions, then that along with mud will be the main game situation and theme. Once the weather clears, then it is time as CEO of the company, to deploy your restoration team complete with all the necessary heavy equipment to go in and do what is needed.

Most of the restoration work will involve clearing storm debris, rebuilding roads and bridges and other infrastructure so that the business or city can resume normal operation. Of course, you will be rewarded with a monetary payment and experience points. With these rewards the XP points are needed to unlock additional equipment and open up tougher and more lucrative missions. The money of course is used to grow your company by purchasing new and better equipment. As the top disaster recovery company in the world there will be nothing you can not accomplish.

How Will It Be Possible To Recover From So Many Disasters?

The Howie Disaster Recovery Company will be called to handle it all! As an example of the recovery work the company will do, let's say a destroyed area is no longer accessible. After scouting the situation out, your machines can clear trees in the surrounding area and build an entirely new road if needed. If a bridge has been washed out by a flood then the task is to rebuild the bridge so that access to the location is restored. With all of that, you will also be able to use some of the debris from the damaged zone to manufacture usable resources and materials that might be needed in the rebuilding process. With all of the various storm related and natural disasters available to cause mayhem there won't be a shortage of work.

All of the equipment in the game, which consists of a wide range of over 40 different construction and disaster recovery vehicles look and operate perfectly. The list is extensive but you will find bulldozers that can push debris or grind up tree stumps. There's, an electrical cable layer that is used to reconnect power to buildings and other entities in need of having electrical power restored. Also there are tree cutters, flat bed trucks that can carry other vehicles and both stationary and mobile cranes. Since a lot of disasters include massive amounts of rain then all of the vehicles will be required to traverse through mud. This is where developer Saber Interactives knowledge of four by four mud racing comes it to play and it works very nicely indeed.

Now That The Recovery Is A Success, Whats Next?

Folks, all I can say in closing is that if you enjoy using and operating heavy construction vehicles that have the capability of moving through mud in either first or third person perspective then this game is for you. Add in the option to take a four by four log hauler or any vehicle in to the company maintenance garage to upgrade and customize the machine with the company logo and colors, then the sky is the limit. I can't wait for May 20, 2025 to arrive when I can get my hands on the final release version and do a full review. After looking at the demo and if the final edition lives up to expectations then Saber Interactive will definitely have a winner on their hands. I can't wait!
