Welcome to the Legend of Grimrock hint system! Since Legend of Grimrock is not ashamed of being a truly challenging game, you might encounter places where you can get stuck. Since walkthrough guides or forum discussions of the solutions don't exist yet, we've compiled a few of the most common hints here that people have needed. We've concealed the hints by using html magic and you can see them by selecting the black bars with your mouse. But try not to give up and resort to these hints too easily: the game is much more enjoyable if you can overcome the challenges by yourself, even if it takes a while! Level 1. "Loose Rock"The walls can contain concealed things. Look carefully.
Level 2. Jail cells Did you notice that you can pick up items through bars?
Level 2. The teleporter to the east from the crystal Hint 1: Take a careful look at the walls.
Hint 2:
Found the switch? Good. Just make sure that you're not encumbered so you can move quickly.
Level 2. The room to the west from the crystal Hint 1: Take a close look at the walls.
Hint 2:
Don't let the opening and closing of the walls fool you and remember to check if there are new openings you might not have noticed.
Hint 3:
There are three buttons in total.
Level 3. "A lone pillar of light..." The placement of the torch holders on the walls in this room seems interesting.
Level 3. Spinning teleporters Hint 1: You can't reach the pressure plate in east by running...
Hint 2:
...but it's ok, there are other ways to press down the plate than stepping on it.
Level 3. "Spectral Relay" Hint 1: Remember what you did back in level 2, in the jail cells?
Hint 2:
You can't walk on top of the pressure plate behind the portcullis. But you don't need to.
Level 4. "Time and Tide" You've probably tried to throw an item into the blinking teleporter. Have you noticed that lighter objects travel further when thrown?
Level 5. "Deserted Tunnels" Hint 1: If you try the puzzle a few times, an extra hint is revealed.
Hint 2:
You have to be quick. But not too quick to avoid hitting the teleporter.
Level 6. "Mage's Entrance" Hint 1: There's many hints scattered around you in this area...
Hint 2:
...like the name of the area...
Hint 3:
...and what the demon's face shoots.
Level 6. "Walkabout" Don't give up, just keep on going!
Level 7. The room with constantly opening and closing pits Hint 1: This is simple.
Hint 2:
Take a good look around you.
Level 9. "Checkered Room" Hint 1: There's a hint behind one of the curtains.
Hint 2:
The room is checkered.
Hint 3:
The scroll you found in holy scriptures is not related to this puzzle.
Hint 4:
What does a checkerboard pattern look like?
Hint 5:
...it's a pattern where every other cell is colored.
Level 9. "Pillared Hallway" You need to solve the Holy Scriptures first.
Level 9. The room with the crystal Hint 1: You will hear a click if you matched a right item.
Hint 2:
Severed dread. What rhymes with dread?
Hint 3:
Tear of the land. If land could cry, what would its tears be?
Hint 4:
Unraveller of mysteries. What is the key to solving mysteries?
Level 10. "The Caverns", row of levers There's a note written by Toorum in one of the side rooms.
Level 11. The tomb, middle room. To find the weapon, you need darkness.
