Unforgettable

EA SCOUT the last line of defense for buying on Steam's Early Access

This Forgotten Seas Adventure is unforgettable

Forgotten Seas is the new early access game by Indie game developer Pangea Game Studios and it's founder and lead developer Michelle Varma. The game is a role playing (RPG), survival and adventure simulation and Ms. Varma is very passionate about her first game creation project. As a gamer and lover of pirate adventures myself, I'm really quite excited about this newest pirate extravaganza because it looks to be very good so far. So please stick with us as we go through some of what you can expect to see in the game.

Forgotten Seas has a story line that consists of some thirteen survival challenges with ten different ship classes along with four hundred or so varied items and resources. Since this is a survival game, then it goes to reason that resources will need to be gathered and then somehow turned in to usable items and equipment through crafting. Most if not all of the gathered resources will be used to craft buildings, and sailing ships, with others items being found that pirates will require in order to thrive both on the sea and land.

Swash-buckle your way to fame and fortune

Even though Forgotten Seas appears to be another traditional swashbuckling and treasure hunting adventure game, it is actually more then that. Where Pirates of the Caribbean-style games tend to be all about building a fleet of pirate ships allowing the pirate hero to plunder and pillage their way to fame and fortune, Forgotten Seas concentrates on a nicely thought out magical "ship in a bottle" theme. The game takes place in a fantastical world called the Bermuda Void. The magical part of the game comes in to play with the way your pirate handles and deploys his or her fleet of ships and it is very intriguing indeed.

When I initially was handed the assignment about this new early access game I thought it was going to be just another run of the mill pirate romp, but I was wrong. The way things work in Forgotten Seas entails how the fleet is deployed. All of the ships aren't situated in a normal fleet and crew fashion, they are actually crafted and then placed in a bottle. That's right, your pirate fleet of various cargo ships from a tiny schooner to a massive war ship are stored in bottles that you throw in to the sea and they magically appear upon hitting the water. So if you are shuttling cargo between ports and happen to be attacked by evil doer's then all you need to do is throw the bottle containing a war ship in to the water and you will be ready to go to battle. The concept of storing ships in a bottle is a very unique and interesting concept for sure and it works very well.

Shrink it down and put it in your pocket

When your pirate captain arrives on dry land then you shrink the ship down and it is magically stored away until your next sea voyage. When shrunken, the fleet and it's ships cargo remains intact for when it will next be needed. When it comes time to go sailing again all you have to do is throw the appropriate ship bottle in to the water and you are ready to go. This is a very novel and fantastical way of doing things and I actually enjoyed this approach.

The action in Forgotten Seas takes place in a third person view and the game environment contains a vast open world of water filled with beautiful islands scattered across the seascape. A nice feature to keep the game world fresh is when the sea absorbs various uninhabited land masses which then become locations that will need your pirate to investigate and explore. This generally happens when scenarios are completed. It is a very well thought out aspect which will keep your pirate on their toes. Apart from fending off the various evils present on the high seas, other threats include whirlpools, storms and danger spots, both on land or sea consisting of beasts bent on sending careless sailors down to Davy Jones locker.

This Forgotten Sea is my cup of tea

Folks, I enjoyed my time with the preview version of Forgotten Seas and look forward to the game's full release sometime in the future. The games developer Michelle Varma not only designed the game itself with it's unique concept, but she has composed the music as well. Everything looks and sounds great. If you enjoy role-playing in a fantastical swashbuckling role as a pirate, then Forgotten Seas will definitely be your cup of tea. Everything from the exciting Pirates! style sword fights to the smashing cannon broadsides hitting your ship or the enemy ship. After the battle is over, players can go on some exciting treks in a world full of treasure buried on exotic islands. Or you can simply sit back and enjoy the view while aimlessly wandering around while exploring this open world! Forgotten Seas looks to be a very intriguing pirate themed title developed and produced by a very talented new game developer. Give it a try because I think it will be worth your while.
