MGSV Sells 3 Million Units
Hideo Kojima's latest hit game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain received high praise from critics and fans, which lead to its sales number hitting over 3 million.
The ad translates to “Cumulative worldwide shipments: three million copies breakthrough.”
The ad surfaced in Japan about a week after release, so these numbers likely represent day-one purchases, which is in-line with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which sold 3 million units on day-one.
However, considering the Nikkei reports that Hideo Kojima had spent over $80 million on development for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, it will likely have to sell over 6 million units to break even, according to Forbes
Here at HookedGamer.com, Jonathon Irwin gave Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain a 9.9, a near perfect score, praising the gameplay and open environment, while mentioning the glaring hole caused by some cut content.
