ME3's "From Ashes" DLC Developed Post-Release

BioWare's Casey Hudson has revealed that Mass Effect 3's first bit of DLC "From Ashes" was not developed with the game itself.

Speaking on Twitter, Hudson confirmed that the DLC was developed post-release.
“It takes about 3 months from ‘content complete’ to bug-fix, certify, manufacture, and ship game discs. In that time we work on DLC."

“DLC has fast [certification] and no [manufacturing], so if a team works very hard, they can get a DLC done in time to enjoy it with your 1st playthrough on day one. On ME3, content creators completed the game in January and moved onto the ‘From Ashes’ DLC, free with the [Collector's Edition] or you can buy separately.”
Upon the reveal of the DLC it was said that fans of the series were upset that BioWare and EA were profiteering too much from it, saying that the DLC should have been included with the game.

Mass Effect 3 is out early next month for the PS3, 360, and PC.
