Play As A Girl In NHL 12
EA Sports is launching NHL 12 in the US today and if you so choose you will now be able to play as a female hockey player.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the decision to include the option to create a female player in the game was actually spurred by a letter sent by a 14 year old girl, Lexi Peters, from Buffalo, N.Y.
The letter was sent to EA's Peter Moore asking why there was not an option to create a female player in past year's editions. Peters stated that it is “unfair to women and girl hockey players around the world.”
Moore passed the letter to NHL series head, David Littman, who stated that the letter was a "wake up call" to the firm and that there are indeed females out there that thoroughly enjoy playing hockey. In honor of this being the first year that female characters can be made in the game, they had Peters send in photos of herself so that the studio could make the female model in her likeness.
NHL 12 is out on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
