Rumor: MW3 Gets Release Date, Massive Info Blowout
Kotaku has blown the day up with a massive Modern Warfare 3 information extravaganza, while we don't know if it any of it is real...so take it with huge grain of salt.
According to the site's very trusted sources the game will be releasing on November 8 and will "reshape the Call of Duty franchise".
The sources state that the story,
“The game opens moments after the cliffhanger ending of Modern Warfare 2 with the US struggling to stave off a surprise Russian attack. The single-player campaign will ping-pong players around the world as they take on the multiple throwaway roles as a Russian Federal Protective Services agent, SAS Operative, tank gunner, and AC-130 gunner as well as key characters from previous installments and new recurring characters. The game will feature about 15 missions, kicking off with the invasion of Manhattan by a Russian force and wrapping up with a final encounter in Dubai.”
Vehicles that you will be able to control will range from the AC-130 gunship to a tank. The plot will tie up any loose ends or questions that you might have regarding events from Modern Warfare 1 or 2. The game will introduce two new Delta Force team members named "Frost" and "Sandman".
The game's multiplayer faction will contain quite a few maps as well as two new game modes called "Survival" and "Mission".
The game will start where Modern Warfare 2 ended with US forces fighting Russian forces on the ground in America. Captain John "Soap" MacTavish and Captain John Price are on the run, wounded, with the Russian informant Nikolai. The group is hiding out in a safehouse in Dharmasala, India when they are attacked by Russian forces and you will take control of Yuri, a worker for the informant Nikolai.
The game then takes you to Manhattan where Russian forces are attacking in the Hudson River and the US calls in the Delta Force operatives where you will take control of Frost under Sandman's command.

While in mid-transit on a plane, the plane is hijacked with intent to kidnap the Russian president and his daughter. Vladimir Makarov doesn't want peace so he kidnaps the Russian president, steals his missile codes, and launches an attack on the U.S.
The game then shifts to Africa where Price, Soap, and Yuri are dealing with South African weapons dealers. You then take control of an SAS operative as you try to stop the shipment of "weapons of mass destruction" to London.
European cities start being attacked where you then take control of a tank operator in Hamburg, Germany as you try to resist the Russian attack.
The final mission takes place in Dubai where Yuri, Price, and Sandman launch an attack on the hotel where Makarov is hiding and the final gun fight finally ends Makarov's terror reign. According to the report the game contains a "post-credits" level where you see the demise of Washington D.C.
