Mass Effect 3 Face Import Workaround

Many people have been unable to import their Shepard's face into Mass Effect 3 when carrying over a save that originated with the first game. However, there is a workaround that, with some legwork, will allow to make your Shepard exactly the same.

During character creation, there is a string that is updated, in which each character represents the position of each slider. Change your iris color? That G becomes a D. And so on. Luckily, once your character is created, the final string is displayed prominently on Shepard's part of the Squad menu.

So, if you boot up Mass Effect 2 and bring up the Squad menu, you can write down the string. If you take that and use it as reference during Mass Effect 3 (the string is displayed on the bottom of the screen during character creation), you can create your Shep exactly the same way he would have looked if he imported correctly.

It's a pain, and certainly more work than the player should have to do, but at least you can rest easy knowing your Shepard won't look like he was replaced by some new actor during the second and third entries of the trilogy.
