Quotix Software gets another chance...

Who Heeds the Call? (cont.)

Once you have selected your hero, you will be off to battle many, many monsters in a game that is said to be similar to Diablo. We have been told that there is a variety of eighteen different types of enemies. And that it will include 3 major bosses for the heroes to take down throughout their adventure.

But Did you See the PC Version?

Indeed, the PC version of the game released this June was riddled with criticisms and problems. However, the good news is that hopefully the people working on the Wii version of the game have taken note of these problems and will adjust the game to come out much better. The various complaints about the PC product were that the game had poor level design with constant mind numbing fighting. Refining the level design should be relatively simple to make a more straightforward path through the game while keeping the overall level the same. We can only hope the game designers have addressed this problem before the game ships.

Advantage

On the issue of constant and repetitive fighting, one must remember that the Wii has the huge advantage of the Wii remote. Now, fighting multiple enemies through a dungeon constantly pressing the “ENTER” key on a keyboard can drive a man or woman crazy… BUT imagine the ability to swing your sword in real time with the Wii remote. If Data Design Interactive’s definition of “full advantage” of the Wii remote means that you have to be swinging your sword or aiming your bow constantly during the fight, it may result in some very intense and rewarding fights. So lets not write the Wii version off until we see what has been done with it.

Answering the Call

To be fair, the developer Quotix Software is not known for putting out high profile games and it showed with the PC version of Call For Heroes. However, they have now put the game into the hands of Data Design Interactive and with a little luck they can turn this game around for the Wii. Wii owners who are looking for a dungeon crawler game might want to wait until the reviews come out for this one before they pick it up at the store. Call For Heroes: Pompolic Warswill be available for the Wii by the end of this year.
