New Playstation Exclusive

In the Dutch version of Official Playstation Magazine, a back page teaser of a new Playstation exclusive was revealed. Though under tight restrictions, the announcement was made that it will be unveiled next issue; however the mag gave no real details about this Playstation exclusive title.

I'm sure speculation will run riot until then.

Singstar Goes Wireless

Singstar Goes Wireless
Sony are finally going to update their Singstar games with wireless microphone peripherals. The new mics will be hitting store shelves sometime next year, but no official date has been released yet, so your guess is as good as any. The mics will have computability for both the PS2 and PS3, so no matter what version you're playing, you'll still be able to use them.

Sony has called for some testers on the Singstar Myspace page, which should hopefully give us our first look at these new microphones.

Sony: "shoddy machines won't grow the market"

The president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, David Reeves, said in an interview with MCV that "shoddy machines won't grow the market."

"... Another thing we have committed to for supporting market growth is putting out quality hardware - you don't grow the market by putting out shoddy machines," he said. "So we try to make sure that PS3s have a failure rate of just two to three percent, which is very low by industry standards.

HOME Maintenance

HOME Maintenance
Sony's HOME will become unavailable later today for an expected 6 hours, where the service will undergo some maintenance behind the curtain. The main reason given for this update is to ease the problems people have been having when trying to connect to the service.

"Sony Computer Entertainment will conduct system maintenance for PlayStation Home on Thursday, December 18, 2008. At this time PlayStation Home will be updated from ver. 1.03 to 1.04. The system maintenance is scheduled to start at 12 midnight (PST), and the service is expected to resume in approximately 6 hours but may change depending on the circumstances. PlayStation Home will be unavailable during the maintenance window.

"The reason for this maintenance is to ease the difficulty some people are having accessing PlayStation Home due to the high demand for the service."

Sackboy For Sale
Now, thanks to Play-Asia, you can buy your very own Sackboy toy. If you weren't annoyed enough by them already, and I sure know I am (God I hate those adverts), then head over there to buy a 4" or a 10" figure for quite reasonable prices ($9.90 and $15.90 respectively). The perfect give for those still obsessed with this sacky little guy.

In the future, your portable IDs will allow you to show off and check out other people's Trophies on a PC, similar to what Xbox Live account holders can do online on xbox.com.

"Sign in and go to the My PSN page in the PlayStation Network section to see which of your friends are online, create an official Portable ID to show your friends your favourite games, and take part in events to suit all tastes by checking out the Events Calendar."

KZ2 - No Install Option

KZ2 - No Install Option
Killzone 2's developer Guerilla has confirmed that there will be no hard drive install options for their upcoming smash, when it launches early in 2009. This is for both mandatory and optional installs.

"We are not planning to do any install." Installing games to the hard drive significantly lower the blu-ray loading times, will Killzone 2 players suffer from god awful load times? Or maybe Guerilla has found some way around this?

No PS3 Price Cuts

No PS3 Price Cuts
Sony has recently announced that there will be no price cuts any time soon, as a reply to the increasing amount of rumours that there will be a price cut for the PS3. Sony went on to say that any news of a price cut is pure rumour or speculation.

With the holiday period pretty much upon us now, people are going to be looking for the best deals, especially with current circumstances with the credit crunch. With the Wii being the cheapest option last year, how will the 360 fare now being the cheapest option?

Home 1.0 Creeps Closer

Home 1.0 Creeps Closer
With Home 1.0 on the horizon, Sony has already sent out 100,000 European invites to players already. A larger batch of invites will also be sent out to gamers this coming Thursday. These invites are being sent out to coincide with the 1.0 launch, and will be sent to a pre-chosen list of gamers.

Don't worry if you're not on the list however, because the Home community manager Ted said the open beta wouldn't be too far behind the Thursday invites. "Home beta 1.0 is aimed at delivering a stable base upon which to build the service over the coming months and years," TedTheDog said, and it introduces a host of new features, such as background downloading, a club support system and various changes to the names of in-Home areas and the Home interface.
