Netflix Scraps Idea To Offer Video Games

US video rental/streaming content giant Netflix has announced that they will no longer consider offering video games to their customers.

The Verge is reporting that the video service will not entertain the idea of jumping into the video game market, conceding that area of rentals to Redbox.

Last year Netflix CEO Reed Hastings announced that the company would be splitting into two factions; Netflix and Qwikster. Netflix would be responsible for streaming content only and Qwikster would take over the distribution of physical DVD's as well as video game rentals. It was also announced that the two factions would be separate companies and you would need separate accounts to manage both. After much public outcry (which came after Netflix announced rate increases for their physical DVD rentals), Hastings announced that the move to create two separate companies would not be happening.

Netflix's 2011 was filled with stupid blunders that only alienated its customer base and really strengthened Redbox's control over the physical DVD market.
