Gamer Nostalgia & Low Quality Graphics

Next generation consoles are pumping out games with mind blowing graphics and ground breaking game play. However, with all these advanced games, like Call of Duty: Black Ops or Infamous 2, some long for simpler games that hearken back to Nintendo and arcade classics like Super Mario Brothers, Mega Man, and Metal Slug. If retro games are your forte than the following online games may be up your alley.

Jagged Alliance: Back in Action announced, first screens

I never thought I'd live to see the day, but a new Jagged Alliance game is in the making and will be available in Q4 of 2011. More precisely, Jagged Alliance: Reloaded has been renamed to Jagged Alliance: Back in Action and found a publisher in Kalypso.

Hooked Gamers Brings Gaming News To Android

Ever wanted to check the latest gaming news on your phone, only to find that any full blown website is nearly impossible to navigate? Gamers with smartphones have had to deal with hard to use websites and poorly built 'mobile' websites for years. Wide screens, tiny buttons that turn any attempt to click them into a game of 'pin the tail in the donkey.

No more we say!

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Again Target Of Account Scam

There are dumb scammers and there are REALLY dumb scammers. This is a tale about the latter.

A friend of mine was just sent an e-mail by ‘Blizzard’ saying that she had been chosen to participate in the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Beta. All she needed to do to join was to log into her account where she would receive more information.

Nintendo's financials take a dive

Nintendo's financials take a dive
It seems things are taking a turn for the worse for Nintendo.

The company reported a net loss of 2 billion yen (or $25 million) over the first 6 months of 2010, citing vastly reduced sales of both hard- and software as well as an expensive yen as the primary culprits.

After taking a huge lead early in the 'Next Gen' console war, it seems that the Wii is finally losing steam then. With the 3DS not coming out until next year, it seems unlikely that Nintendo's products will take center stage under the Xmas tree this year.

Duke Nukem Forever playable Down Under this weekend

Duke Nukem Forever playable Down Under this weekend
Australian gamers will have a chance to play Duke Nukem Forever this weekend. Gearbox and the Mana Bar are organizing a a hands-on event that is open to the general public on Saturday the 16th. Of course the chances are that you'll be queuing up three blocks away from Mana Bar's Brisbane venue, so I would leave early if I were you. Oh, and while you're there, we're all out of the juice, so if you can pick up a few bottle's of blue, it would be much appreciated.

Full press release after the click.

APB developer RealTime Worlds closing

APB developer RealTime Worlds closing
Last week, rumors surfaced about RealTime World's financial woes. The company was said to be laying off the entire staff working on their freshly announced game MyWorld. Word just reached us that this was not enough to save the studio.

Today, employees of RealTime Worlds were told that the company is closing and that its 170 staff still on the payroll no longer had a job. The fate of All Points Bulletin is currently unknown.

APB's launch had a luke-warm reception at best, with the gaming press awarding the game with mediocre scores across the board.

That's why I'm NOT pre-ordering Dragon Age II

As a fan of most things Bioware, Dragon Age II should be on my 2011 wish list. And yet, it isn't. More worrying still, why does Bioware seem hell-bent on keeping it that way?
