Confirmed: No Half Life 3/Episode 3 At Gamescom
Listings on the official Gamescom website show that Valve will not be exhibiting any materials related to Half Life in anyway.
After a no-show from Valve at E3 this year, many fans were getting excited upon hearing the news that Valve was going to appear at Gamescom this year. The reason? Fans have been waiting for the announcement of Half Life 2: Episode 3 or Half Life 3 for years, and unfortunately they are going to have to wait even longer for any such news.
Conducting an 'exhibitor search' for Valve on the official Gamescom website brings up a page for the developers that reveals the locations of their stands at Gamescom and what categories their materials fall into. For Half Life to be expected at Gamescom we would expect to see 'action/adventure', but instead the listing simply says 'strategy'.
This confirms that Valve is definitely revealing Defense of the Ancients 2 at Gamescom 2011, and not Half Life at all - but you already knew that deep down. Will it get a mention or a subtle wink? Doubtful, but it could happen - just don't get your hopes up.
