Are These Leaked Shots Of The Unannounced Pokemon Game?

Some potentially leaked shots of the soon to be announced Pokemon game add to the growing rumours of what type of game it will be. Do these shots suggest a first-person Pokemon game is on the way?

The Japanese manga magazine, CoroCoro, announced in their latest issue that they would be revealing a new Pokemon game in their June 15th issue.

Despite CoroCoro always being first to announce Pokemon news, Dengeki Nintendo claims that they will actually be revealing details of the game on May 21st.

The only real information we have on the game to date is that it will more than likely be a 3DS game. Satoru Iwata seemed to confirm this a few months ago:

Naturally, we expect 3D viewing to become one of the attractions when the new Pokémon title is released on Nintendo 3DS, but a number of other attractions, which do not depend upon the 3D aspect, shall also be realised. I have no hesitation about the prospect that a Pokémon-franchise title will be released for Nintendo 3DS.

Fan speculation and hopes point towards a Pokemon Snap for the 3DS, a Pokemon Stadium game, or another offshoot rather than a main title in the Pokemon game franchise. What has been made clear from the developers is that there will not be a Pokemon MMO as they envision the games to remain on portable consoles.

Adding further speculation as to what this upcoming, unannounced Pokemon title could be is a few interesting photos that have made their way on to the internet. The shots are very obscured, blurry and adhere to the lack of clarity we have come to expect of 'leaked' materials. What can be seen in the images is that a hand is holding up a Pokeball, and in the background is a large city. Most exciting is that the shots show a first-person perspective.

Whether these shots are from an upcoming Pokemon game or something far removed is entirely up for debate. The scale of these images is not even clear; is that foregrounded shape a human head (with long hair) or a finger? If it is the latter then that suggests that if this is the upcoming Pokemon game will certainly be realised on the 3DS as is expected.

Our hopes is that these are shots are legitimate and are actually our first look at a first-person pokemon RPG. The main series was starting to look old anyway, and being able to free roam, battle and capture pokemon in first person perspective has long been a dream of ours. More than likely these are shots of something else unrelated to a Pokemon game, but we can hope!
