How could I not pick this up as soon as it came out? One of my most anticipated sequels, regardless of whether or not there was really a need for it.
A young gamer raised by young parents, only insuring I'd have something to play as soon as I could handle a controller. I've played them all, from the ColecoVision up through the current gen, skipping only a few along the way.

Looks like we'll have even more reason to tune our TVs to Spike for GTTV's Pre-E3 special. Geoff Keighly recently tweeted that the special would feature the first gameplay footage of Visceral's Dead Space 2. Considering the fact that they've already got the premiere of gameplay footage from Killzone 3, this pre-E3 special is starting to gear up to E3 level of awesome.
Just a reminder, the special airs on June 11 at 11 pm.
THQ and Relic have released the first trailer for Company of Heroes Online. While the trailer is standard fare, with no gameplay footage or anything like that, they do reveal that the game will be live in September. At least they didn't leave us hanging for weeks or months, wondering when it would be out. It's nice only having to wait a single day for information like this.
Although the European release date was revealed back at the beginning of May, no US release date had been announced until today. With three new videos about the game's story, new features, and multiplayer (look for those on our YouTube channel as soon as we can get them up), Konami has finally announced that Ninety Nine Nights II(also known as N3II: Ninety-Nine Nights) will be hitting the US on June 29th.
As the release date draws ever nearer, Realtime Worlds have seen fit to reveal the minimum specs for APB (or All Points Bulletin, for those out of the loop), their upcoming MMO. Personally, I've been anticipating this game from the moment I finished playing Crackdown (of course, I was anticipating Crackdown 2 until they announced this, but regardless...). And normally I'd say something here about the fact that I'm glad I finally upgraded my PC, blah blah, but the specs aren't really very much. Of course, this is an MMO, so the point is to reach as many people as possible, and the recommended specs are yet to be shown.
Update: Looks like we didn't have to wait quite that whole 12 days. Eidos have responded to the rumors about Thief 4 appearing at E3. “Our studio is completely dedicated to Deus Ex at the moment,” the developer told Connected Consoles. When asked, the developer also said that the game would have no presence at E3 because of this. So...get excited for Deus Ex!
Original: Someone at Sony may have dropped a bombshell a littler earlier than planned. About 9 hours ago, the Playstation twitter posted a very short, simple tweet that could mean big things.
That's it. Sony has since removed the tweet, but that is just more evidence that this is something that's going to be a big announcement. That, or some intern was really excited about Thief 4 coming out eventually, even though no platforms or release information have been revealed, that he tweeted about it on the official Playstation twitter without thinking first. Yeah, right.
Sony has released the first trailer for Killzone 3, and it's pretty explosive. Okay, so there's only one explosion, but still. The trailer features an intense hand-to-hand fight between Sev and a Helghast soldier which ends with Sev taking the Helghast's mask and putting it on. Guessing we'll be seeing some intense new melee combat and maybe some undercover stuff? Hopefully they'll show off some of that melee in-game with the demo coming up on Spike next Friday.
New screenshots for Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions have revealed what the previously unknown third universe would be for the game. For those of you who don't know, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions takes place in multiple Spider-Man universes. Until today, we knew that the Amazing Spider-Man universe and one called Spider-Man Noir, set in the 1930s, would be in the game. Now we know that Spider-Man 2099 will be featured, as well.
You can check out the other three new screenshots below or check them out in our GameHub. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is currently set for release in September on the DS, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
A new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II premiered on Eurogamer today. The trailer features flashbacks to the first game and Subject 1157 (vague, but presumed Starkiller?) awakening in a some sort of tank.
The game's official website has also opened up and features some interactive flash based stuff from Subject 1157's point of view inside the tank. Definitely worth killing some time with.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is currently set for release on PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii on October 26 in the US. No release date has been announced for any other region.
The DSi will be getting a price cut in the UK and Japan starting on June 18. Nintendo has announced that the cost of the DSi to retrailers will be lowered, but not by how much. And they've said that "The ultimate price to consumers is, of course, determined by the retailers." The Japanese price cut comes in a little more details, and with some bonuses. The DSi LL (Japan's name for the DSi XL in Europe and America) will be getting cut from ¥20,000 ($217) to ¥18,000 ($195). The original DSi will now sell for ¥15,000 ($163), which is down about 22% from ¥18,900 ($205).
And so, the image I've associated with a veteran game developer is relegated to nothing but memory. Rare, creator of such esteemed classics as Perfect Dark, GoldenEye, and the Banjo-Kazooie franchise, has decided that a rebrand was the proper way to celebrate and mark their 25 years in the games industry. While it is certainly odd for that image we all knew so well to be relegated to such a small part of the new logo, I'm sure we'll all get used to it fairly quickly. Oddly enough, Rare couldn't seem to pick just one new image, so there are four. Each with a different color and shape around the old image.

Tech blog Gear Live has posted a rumor that Microsoft will be announcing a partnership with Hulu to bring the website's library to the Xbox 360. According to a "very reliable source (who has never been wrong before)," Microsoft will unveil this feature at E3. While it's not totally surprising on the part of Hulu or Microsoft that this is happening, the details are a little disappointing, if they prove to be correct. Gear Live is claiming that this will be the start of Hulu's subscription-based plans, meaning Xbox 360 owners would have to pay another subscription fee on top of a Gold Membership and Netflix, for those that are utilizing that as well.
Looks like we'll just have to wait until E3 to see if this proves true. Personally, I'm hoping that this will be free to Gold members (yeah, right).
Geoff Keighley of GameTrailers TV has tweeted that Spike's Pre-E3 special, airing June 11th, will include a trailer for the upcoming sequel. This is an exciting piece of news, as I was assuming we wouldn't get to see any trailers until at least E3 and wasn't expecting gameplay at all. So, make sure to have your TVs tuned to Spike on the 11th at...well, 11 to see what Guerilla has in store for us.
Welcome to the Indie Spotlight! Once a week, roughly, I’m going to be grabbing a random game off of the Xbox Live Indie Marketplace and putting it through its paces. As opposed to a traditional review, I’ll write something a little shorter that will come without any score or any of that. So, we start off the first week with a little-known recent release called Meds.
Meds is another brickbreaker-style game that comes with a few interesting twists. The player is supposed to be a heavily-medicated mental patient who stumbles into an arcade after his medical transport crashes. Out of all the games in the arcade, the patient feels compelled to play Mega Break Destroyer. This is where the game really begins.
