MGS4 coming to 360 after all?

Late in August, Metal Gear Solid director Hideo Kojima stated Guns of the Patriots on the XBOX 360 was simply 'not possible'.
MGS4 coming to 360 after all?
However, it seems the consumers have got their way. In an interview with Morningstar back at TGS, Konami PR rep Yoshitaka Arai stated a 360 release of MGS4 was more likely than we'd thought.

"The worldwide demand for an XBOX 360 version [of Metal Gear Solid 4] is quite high," stated Arai. "It is something we're currently looking into."

This is most definitely good news for X-Bots - Hooked Gamers awarded Metal Gear Solid 4 with a much coveted perfect 10 back in June - definitely not something that happens every day!

OMG of the Day - Sin & Punishment 2!

Try to imagine my excitement when I got home today to a trailer for a new Sin & Punishment game. You can't, can you? To summarize, I was bouncing off the walls like a 7-year-old who'd just drank his weight in Cream Soda. Treasure is one of my favorite game companies ever (second only to Rare) and S&P was one of my favorite games on the n64. Now that the long rumoured-sequel has been confirmed for the Wii, I'm absolutely ecstatic. Well, no, that's a gross understatement.

To see what all the fuss is about, check out the teaser trailer.

OMG of the Day - Sin & Punishment 2!

One of the finest games to grace the n64. Let's hope 2 can be half as good.

If you haven't played the original yet, download it on the VC. This is not a suggestion, it's a mandate. The best 12 bucks you'll ever spend.

EA scoops up 2 more

Monster publisher EA's master plan to take over the gaming industry (and, eventually, the entire world) continued today when the company announced it would be joining forces with two independent developers. Epic Games (Gears of War, Unreal Tournament) is partnering with EA to publish their latest action title, which will be co-developed by Polish developer People Can Fly (Painkiller).

EA also revealed that Grasshopper Manufacture's (No More Heroes, killer7) new survival horror project, which is a collaboration between Grasshopper's own Suda51 and Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. According to EA, Q Entertainment (Lumines) will also be working on the project.

Itagaki quits Tecmo

Tomonobu Itagaki, the genius behind both the new Ninja Gaiden series and the Dead or Alive franchise, has quit Tecmo and plans to sue them for 148 million yen - roughly $1,400,000 USD. According to Itagaki, this decision was made due to Tecmo not coughing up promised bonuses.

Before the start of development on Dead or Alive 4, Tecmo Co. Ltd. had agreed to pay a completion bonus to me for this Xbox 360 title, which I produced. However, when the time came for the actual payment... President Yoshimi Yasuda chose not only to violate this agreement, but also turned defiant, telling me 'if you are dissatisfied with the decision not to pay the bonuses, either quit the company or sue it.

Ouch... Yasuda obviously forgot he was dealing with Tomonobu Itagaki. Itagaki regrets that he will no longer be able to make more Ninja Gaidens or Dead or Alives, and apologizes to fans of both franchises.

Rest assured, we'll have more on the story as it develops.

Mirror's Edge release imminent?

Mirror's Edge, the hotly anticipated first-person game from DICE, could possibly be releasing sooner than any of us thought. A new preview at VideoGameMedia ended with the following tidbit of information:

If this all sounds like a hoot and a half, you won't have to wait long; Mirror's Edge is slated for a mid-June release date.

Too good to be true? Perhaps. After all, the first time we saw this incredible project in motion was only a few weeks ago at Sony Europe's press conference. Furthermore, nothing on DICE's official site or bigger sites such as IGN or Gamespot has said anything to confirm this. We'll just wait the next week or so to see if this story was legit, or if VGM was incorrect; either from misinformation or an attempt to draw attention to their site.

I know I'd prefer to wait till the holiday season to give DICE more time to polish it up and make sure everything works the way it should. Oh, and if anyone at DICE is reading - SIXTEEN PLAYER ONLINE DEATHMATCH, for the love of God.

If you have not yet heard of Mirror's Edge, check out the HookedGamers preview or the gameplay trailer below to get yourself pumped.

Platinum Games lineup revealed

You may not know their name, but you do know their work. Platinum Games - founded in 2006 as Seeds - consists of some of the most talented people in the gaming industry, including ex-Clover CEO Atsushi Inaba (Viewtiful Joe, Okami) and Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil, Devil May Cry). Earlier at SEGA's press conference, Platinum Games revealed three of four of their current projects; MadWorld, Bayonetta, and Infinite Line.

The most talked about of the three is the Wii-exclusive MadWorld. MadWorld is a third person action game with an art style obviously influenced by Frank Miller's Sin City. The entire game is in stark black and white, except for the gore which is rendered in bright red. It's the most hilariously gruesome game I've ever seen, topping even No More Heroes. Be sure to check out the teaser trailer below to see just how awesomely gory it really is but be warned - it's not for the faint of heart.

Next up is Bayonetta for the PS3 and XBOX 360. Bayonetta is a third-person action adventure telling of the titular witch, who has 'guns on her hands and feet'. While Platinum has kept gameplay elements to themselves, it is directed by Hideki Kamiya of the Devil May Cry series, and there will likely be similarities between the two. Another kick-ass teaser below, but like MadWorld's it's rather violent, so be warned!

Third and final is Infinite Line on the DS. Infinite Line is a science fiction RPG focusing on combat between spaceships. Based off the novella 'Childhood's End' and boasting forty to fifty hours of gameplay, Infinite Line seems to be shaping up well. Of course, with all the talent behind these games, it would be a wonder if they didn't.

Guitar Hero On Tour revealed!

Rumours about a Guitar Hero DS have been floating around the web for quite a while, and IGN/Yahoo Games revealed today they were true!

Guitar Hero On Tour revealed!
The 'Guitar Grip' plugs into the DS GBA slot.

Guitar Hero On Tour was revealed earlier Wednesday exclusively at IGN and Yahoo Games (I don't know if this means I shouldn't be posting this here, but whatever). The game's unique setup has you plugging in a 'Guitar Grip' peripheral into the GBA slot. The Guitar Grip has four fret buttons on it, and from there you play like you would a console version of Guitar Hero... oh forget it. The trailer will explain things better.

Just like in the console versions, GH:OT will have a single-player mode where players eventually progress through different venues and unlock new characters, outfits and songs. There will also be a fair share of multiplayer options, including Battle Mode with all-new powerups that make use of the mic and touch-screen.

Guitar Hero: On Tour features upwards of twenty songs from artists including Nirvana, OK Go and No Doubt. It's rated E10+ for lyrics and ships this summer. I'm remaining cautiously optimistic about this one; it has the potential to become the DS' summer smash-hit this year.

Disgaea DS Confirmed for NA

It's been confirmed in Japan since earlier this week, but NIS America confirmed today that a DS version of their critically acclaimed SRPG Disagea would be coming Stateside later this year. It may still be early in development, but it still looks quite nice; almost on par with the PSP version!

Disgaea DS Confirmed for NA

Hmm... With this, along with Disgaea 3 in August, it looks like the SRPG community be having one helluva year. Viva NIS!

Duke Nukem Forever resurfaces

Duke Nukem Forever resurfaces
No, this is not some cruel joke. Everyone's favorite vaporware, Duke Nukem Forever, seems to be nearing completion. In a press release issued by 3D Realms earlier today, new screens were issued along with the announcment a teaser trailer would air tomorrow at noon.

Duke Nukem Forever dropped off the face of the earth six years ago, but looks like the game that would be 'done when it was done' is nearing completion. I guarantee we'll have more on this one as new info is released.
