The expansion that fans are waiting for

The Biggest Gets Bigger

Blizzard Entertainment has recently announced that they will now be attempting to sell the incredibly well received World of Warcraft to cats and dogs as every human on the planet has purchased and is playing this game. In reality, Blizzard is gearing up to drop its second expansion of the addictive Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) sometime later this year. Details of Wrath of the Lich King have started to trickle out and players who accomplished most of what can be done with the previous expansion The Burning Crusade should prepare themselves for the next challenge.

It’s Lonely at the Top

World of Warcraft has enjoyed not only widespread success with sales, but has managed to keep people playing it for over 3 years now. You don’t have that type of longevity in the video game industry unless you have something special on your hands. Wrath of the Lich King appears to take the game to new heights and provide a great experience for the causal player of the game, the hardcore raiding players and even the people who are interested in the overall story of the Warcraft universe.

Wrath of the Lich King refers to the fallen hero Arthas who has -at the end of Warcraft III- taken up residence at the Frozen Thrown as the Lich King. Arthas is perhaps one of the most supreme enemies in the game and players are now given the daunting task of bringing the giant down. With a level cap raised to 80 and a new playable class – The Death Knight – people who were quite prepared for Illidan may now find themselves with their hands full.

Death Knight hmmm…?

When the expansion hits, it will introduce the first “Hero Class” to the game… the Death Knight. You will not be able to start the game from the beginning as a Death Knight; instead you are given the option to change your current character into a Death Knight at level 55. The Death Knight is a plate armor wearing tank with the ability to carve runes into your weapons and armor to give you bonuses while in combat. It should be noted that the designers have put a lot of effort into making sure that the Death Knight does not replace current tanking players but compliments them during instance runs or raids. Its abilities will provide groups with more options when heading into difficult instance and raid encounters which should provide some entertaining group runs.
