Shoot Many Robots video interview

Shoot Many Robots is the latest of many 2D side scrolling action games that have made their way to the downloadable front. The game keeps things simple – it really is all in the title. Like a 2D Borderlands, Shoot Many Robots lets four players work together online (but not too closely, mind you. Gotta get that loot!) to defeat a rampaging robot army that threatens the world.
The game has an extensive list of available weaponry, with everything from Gatling guns to rocket launchers and the requisite attributes like fire or poison damage. It also has something that Borderlands most definitely didn’t have – a Fruit F*cker upgrade that adds penetration to your bullets, courtesy of Penny Arcade. Shoot Many Robots hopes to distinguish itself with a wealth of unique weapons and upgrades, with everything from the aforementioned modification to Gnome Launchers and jetpacks.
With a Borderlands-esque arsenal, a Metal Slug-like onslaught of enemies and a dash of Demiurge crazy, Shoot Many Robots looks like it’ll be more than just a Border-Slug – it’s crafting its own identity as a game, and an identity for Demiurge as a studio finally stepping into its own. Look for it (and our review) when it releases in 2012.
