Divinity: Original Sin 2 Coming to Kickstarter August 26th
Back in March of 2013, Lorain Studios announced a Kickstarter for Divinity: Original Sin. The Studio asked for $400,000 in order to complete the game; they received over a million dollars from crowdfunding. Now, Lorain Studios has announced they are returning to Kickstarter for the sequel, Divinity: Original Sin 2. The sequel will appear on Kickstarter on August 26th.
According to Founder of Larian Studios, Swen Vicke, the team sees the community as an integral part of the development process for the first Divinity: Original Sin. Vicke feels that fans gave key input via Kickstarter and Early Access that helped to make the game a success.
"Divinity: Original Sin wouldn’t be the game it was without the input from our Kickstarter backers & Steam Early Access players," Swen Vicke said on his blog, "There were a lot of them and they pushed us forwards in directions we hadn’t anticipated when we started development. To this day, our entire team is incredibly grateful for this. Our community was a critical factor for the success of the game. Without having that same community on board, I think it’s going to be very hard for us to achieve the goals we have with Divinity: Original Sin 2, and so we’ll do our very best to convince them to back us once again. The result at the end will be so much better if they do."
Vicke went on to say that since the mechanical foundations were laid out by the first Divinity: Original Sin, the team will have far more time to work on the world of the game. Since the elementary basics of the game are already built, they'll be able to fine tune the game, possibly with the help of the fans.
More details will come out with the Kickstarter on August 26th, so check with us to keep updated, or subscribe to Lorain Stuidos' news feed with your e-mail.
Hooked Gamers gave the original Divinity: Original Sin a 9.5, so I think it's safe to say we all hope for the success of it's sequel.
