Kojima and del Toro Still Plan to Work Together
The unfortunate cancelling of the Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro project, Silent Hills, along with the erasure of the teaser for the game P.T, was a big blow to the industry. Now, with Kojima leaving Konami, and unable to work with the Silent Hill series, it seemed like the dream team was gone. Luckily, it looks like the movie director and game director are still planning to work together, according to an IGN interview with Del Toro.
"I love working with Kojima-san. We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that’s not going to be [Silent Hills]."
Del Toro did express his disappointment that he and Kojima would not get to work with the Silent Hill series, as they had some strong plans for a psychological horror game.
"We were in the planning stages, and it’s a shame it’s not going to happen," del Toro said. "We were talking about really pushing the boundaries of the new consoles, and making the game really mess with your head. One of the great moments in Metal Gear [Solid] was Psycho Mantis. The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that."
We can only speculate on the future of these two, as Kojima leaves Konami, but we look forward to whatever they come up with.
