Scrolls Development Ends

Mojang has officially ended the development of strategy card game Scrolls. The Mojang game, which went out of beta in December of 2014, was met with average review scores, but developed a small niche audience. Unfortunately Mojang decided Monday that the game had reached a point where development was no longer possible. The developers made the statement on the Scrolls official website.

"After much deliberation, we’ve come to an important decision that we’d like to share: Echoes will be the last major content patch for Scrolls. We won’t be adding features or sets from now on, though we are planning to keep a close eye on game balance," the post goes on, "The launch of the Scrolls beta was a great success. Tens of thousands of players battled daily, and many of them remain active today. Unfortunately, the game has reached a point where it can no longer sustain continuous development."

The game will still be available for purchase, and servers will continue to run until at least July 1st, 2016. Any future proceeds will go to keeping the game running for as long as possible.
