Indie Studio, 22Cans, Undergoes Corporate Restructuring

Earlier this year, 22Cans was suffering from a storm of controversy and criticism. Those who bought or supported the game, Godus, quickly became angry with 22Cans after Kickstarter promises were not met, along with 22Cans announcing their new game, The Trail, before all the promises for Godus had been implemented. To add to that, late in April, Jack Attridge, Molyneux's "Protege", left the company.

Now, 22Cans is restructuring their corporate positions. Peter Molyneux is no longer the CEO, becoming a Creative Director for both Godus and The Trail. The CEO position is being filled by Simon Philips, a 20-year industry veteran, who worked with Fairplay Media and Gusto Games.

"22Cans is unlike any team I've ever worked with before and has been one of the stand-out studios over the last three years," Phillips said in a statement to GamesIndustry International. "I'm super excited to be part of the future here and to help take 22Cans to the next level. At 22Cans, we have a mission statement and that is 'to create world-changing ideas,' and with Peter now able to fully immerse himself in the creative direction of not only Godus but The Trail and all the really smart, cool ideas we have, I believe we can do just that."

No information has been given about The Trail, or if there will be new updates to Godus.
