Valve Trademarks Chaperone

Way back in March of 2015, Valve filed for the trademark of the word Chaperone. It had been undiscovered until now, when a Reddit poster unearthed it. The trademark comes with a particularly uninspiring design of the word.

Here's the trademark description; "Hardware and software, sensors, and beacons for the detection and measurement of physical objects and the representation of such objects in virtual reality environments; Devices used for the detection and measurement of physical objects and the representation of such objects in virtual reality environments; Electronic apparatus for the detection and measurement of physical objects and the representation of such objects in virtual reality environments."

In essence, it looks like the plans to have a hardware and software that will incorporate real life objects into a virtual plane, though it's unclear how it will be implemented.

Valve already has plans in the VR area, working with HTC mobile to work the VR project Vive, along with their own ongoing SteamVR Project.
