Black Mesa mod now on Steam Early Access

Perpetually-in-development modding scene poster-child Black Mesa has emerged from hibernation, with the announcement that you can now get hold of the mod as an Early Access project via Steam.

Black Mesa, a fan-made project to bring the original Half-Life into the Source engine, was first released in 2012, after almost ten years in development. Now that it's on Early Access, the team have set a price of £15/$20; a price which they're hoping to justify with new content and the promise of maybe, finally, finishing the damn thing.

We currently have the first ~85% of our single player campaign completed. For the last 15% we want to not only recreate it, but improve upon it to make it an enjoyable and memorable experience.

For now, paying up front will get you access to pretty much the same content as the original mod release, but it looks like the team will be re-mastering that as well as adding the final levels of the game, set on the alien world of Xen.

More information available on the game's Steam store-front.
