WW1 shooter Verdun holds a Christmas truce event
BlackMill Games and M2H have decided to get all festive with their WW1 FPS, Verdun. Taking a cue from the now legendary Christmas truce of 1914, the squad-based firefights in-game will give way to football matches, snowball fights, and chances to win in-game presents.
Whilst the idea of using WW1 as a marketing gimmick might skirt the borders of bad taste (see the recent Sainsbury's TV advert in the UK for a very similar example), it's certainly an interesting idea, and I'm sure I've never seen it done before in gaming.
The Christmas Truce event starts today, and lasts until the 25th of December, with the game currently at 40% off in the Steam sale too.
