Report: Microsoft doing away with MS Points
According to a new report Microsoft is gearing up to do away with their long standing currency system, Microsoft Points.
The Verge is reporting that the movie store through Windows 8 has started changing the way they charge for rentals and purchases by accepting real currency. In the past versions of the Windows operating system, Microsoft has used Microsoft Points to charge for different types of purchases.
The report claims that Microsoft Points will still be used if you're using a credit card but during the check out process those MS points will default to real money.
Windows 8 has long been rumored to be integrated in the next Xbox home video game console, so it's a likely assumption that Microsoft Points won't be an option when that console comes out.
We'll keep you posted though.
