No 'Alpha Protocol 2' anytime soon
Developer Obsidian has gone on the record stating that fan clamoring for Alpha Protocol 2 won't be enough to get a sequel to the original RPG.
Speaking with VG247, Obsidian's creative director Chris Avellone even stated that a Kickstarter to fund the project wouldn't be enough to get a sequel.
“I’ve tried to let people know that Kickstarter isn’t the place for funding someone else’s franchise,” Avellone said, “Sega owns Alpha Protocol, for example, Dungeons and Dragons is Hasbro. That’s a different kettle of fish.”
“We’d love to do sequels to these games that we’ve worked on, but that’s often not up to us, and it’s not something we could do through Kickstarter, really, or I couldn’t see how they might be done.”
Obsidian's next title is Project Eternity, which looks to take on the classic RPG feel.
